Since when does a catback exhaust put down 17 rwhp on a new edge, without headers? Everyone i've ever talked including Mustang mechanics basically agrees that w/o headers - your exhaust is more or less for sound... What makes SLP catback so differant?

A cat back will give you, at most, a gain of 4rwhp... You guys have to stop believing commercials and advertisements.... It's all bull****, most bolt ons are close to useless if you compare price for performance...

70mm TB=$200 Performance gains=none, unless you have forced induction and you might see 3rwhp out of it...

CAI=$200 Performance gains, 2rwhp and a bunch of noise...

if an SLP catback is worth 17 for a 2001
Whoa. I hit the jackpot. That should put me at what... 290-300rhwp?

So true it's not even funny. I like to think of myself as a glass half overfilled type of guy and think every little bit counts in the grand scheme of things...but come on guys, let's not get out of hand here.

Blacknotch - i've seen real mustang dynoes that puts a TB/Plenum combo giving an addition of 5-10hp.. depending on size, and brand... cai with a tune will put down more then 3, but there i agree with you - CAI w/o a tune will only net 2-3 hp... I was mad as hell when I realized that

Hahahaha, I know... I had a 00GT with a **** load of bolt ons and the only ones that made a noticable difference were gears and an H-pipe... TB's, Pullies, and CAI are worthless, unless you have a bunch of other things to support them...

I actually had a good difference with my TB/Plenum combo. I like to think positive about things, and a lot of times it's the placebo effect.

But let's be rational about this dude, my *** does NOT LIE. The "Seat of the Pants" effect was altered, plus there was slightly better throttle response. You can't get any better dyno for HP gains than my ***, trust me.

...and I really am serious about this.

best thing ive ever done were my gears + tune... the tune helps the other mods... but if you have 3-5hp here, 7-8 there, and another 5 here... taht adds up... They say that the o/r pipe doesn't make a hp differance.. but i know that my car responded faster... even if it only did add a few ponies - the gas pedal was quicker... but think of it.. pulleys = 5-6rwhp, cai w/tune = 5-7hp, 75mm Accufab TB/Plenum can add 7-10rwhp (plus more low-end throttle response)... before you know it.. there's 20 rwhp... im probably around 260 to the rw... and I just have my xcal2 tune, cai, pulleys, 75mm tb/plenum, and exhaust. Just about 35-40 rwhp in mods... half of which is probably from the tune alone, haha...

S28 - best advice i can give you - get some gears, and a tune from either Diablo or SCT Xcalibrator. If you have the money.. a PI Swap
