soo I'm new to the whole mustang thing. I just bought a 97 GT convert. I know that the rear gears have been changed and through talking with the previous owner and using some calulators on the internet I have come to the conclusion that I have 3.73s. If I have done the right reading in these posts changing the gears will throw your speedo off and I was wondering if there was a easy way to tell if my speedo is off or if the guy who put the gears in tuned it? Any advice at all would be wonderful.

get a friend and Drive side by side with them at 55mph acoding to THEIR speedo. If your speedo says 55 then your good to go. If it says more then 55 then they didnt bother to calibrate the speedo with the gear change.

with 3:73's and a 17in. tire you should be around 2600rpm's at 80 with a 5spd. in 5th gear
not sure about auto's.
