Default 1998 cobra vs. 2001 cobra

O.K. I found a 98 cobra that has about 77K on the ticker for a good price. But I was wondering whats the difference between the new edge cobras N/A and the sn cobras. I know the 2000 snakes have irs but are the engines the same because the 2000 say 320 but are overrated. so hp/tq 0 to 60 and 1/4mile. what does each do???
thanks.

1998 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 5.4 14.0
1999 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 5.4 13.9
2001 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 4.8 13.5

i just really like the look of the 99 - 01 cobras. so my choice would be the 00 cobra. But the kings are the 03 - 04 ones!

yeah and i saw a real 2000 cobra r for the first time in person 2 days ago that thing really sounds good engine sounds very deep and healthy. but why is the 2001 faster than the 98-99 because everywhere i check for times on the 98 it says the same thing as 99's 13.9
what did they do to drop that time because thats a big drop about half a second in both areas 305hp to 320hp wouldn't make that much of a 0-60 and et drop.

Also does the 3v gt's have a better power band or curve because both the n/a cobras and 3v peak around 300 and i know the 305hp isn't overratted because i have seen 250rwhp dyno's from the cobras. but the 3v's have been doing mid 13's. am i missing something?????

u sure it was a cobra r. Only 300 were ever made and i have never seen one street driven. Well anywho. The 99 cobra came out saying 320 hp. Then owners proved on the dyno that it was overrated. Therefore they recalled them and changed cpu and an intake manifold i believe. That is why there was no regular cobra in 2000. Then in 2001 they were actually putting out 320 fwhp. The 96-98 cobras were 305 horses i believe. The 05+ GT's are nice motors to mod and you see good gains. With any engine and company as years go by technology improves. That is why we see the 05 v6 making 210 hp when back in 96 the v8 gt was netting 215 hp.

oh it was a cobra r, if not it deserves to be called one it had everything like lx rear bumper, side exhaust, seats, wheels, it was a young driver, it was a hot day, he had the windows down and i didn't hear a radio, plus it didn't sound like a 4.6 i i think I have heard enough.
