Default best weld in mufflers?

i am going to buy some muffler that i can weld in place of my stock mufflers. i think i am going to order flowmaster 40 series, but are there any mufflers that are better than that? i was thinking about dynomax? i want something loud. what muffler would sound the best?

You can grab any kind of mufflers. A shop will weld them in for you, because regardless of the muffler, they will have to cut out the stock mufflers and weld in the new.

If you want something loud, grab some dynomax mufflers or hell, even grab some LM1 mufflers.

As far as the stock midpiping, Im 99.9% sure is 2.25.

i have dynomax with o/r x-pipe, 2.5" catback and its not very loud.

Not much louder than stock.

That is the way I like it... Just loud enough to use that 5-speed and leg-press clutch.

so if you want sound, no dynomax

i think i am going to get the flowmaster 40 series. i am going to get the 2 1/2" muffler with offset inlet/ outlet, adn then jsut buy some reducers so it will fit the stock piping. i will probably get and o/r h pipe this summer and i want the mufflers to work with it so that is why i am getting the 2 1/2" mufflers. i want to have turndowns once i get my h pipe so they will match up. is this a good way to do it? my friend is telling me to get the 2 1/2" mufflers and just buy the reducers so it will work on the stock exhaust.

If you want some cheap, quick sound, then sure its the way to go.

But I can tell you personally, I went down the road, and completely regretted it. I don't mean to get you down, but I think it would be 100% money more well spent if you just saved a little more and grabbed a catback instead of just the weld in mufflers.

Sometimes, like with mine, custom work has to be done. My mufflers weren't long enough, and it just looked like CRAP underneath. I have clearance issues because of the stuff under there, and I was SOOO unimpressed with the noise level. I had magnaflow weld ins. Nice tone, but so disappointed with the noise level. I wish I would have waited to get a catback.

I didn't make that same mistake again, I went with the full exhaust this time around, but even if I just got the catback instead of the weld ins, I woulnd't have wasted any money and I could have built off of that.

the guy I got mine from put in flowmaster delta 40s. Don't really expect too much loudness from flowmaster, but the ygive a GREAT rumble.

The guy who did it (previous owner) did solid welds and everything is strong, but obviously there was room for error and when you drive behind me you only see one muffler, they are at goofy angles. I need a catback but eh it sounds good and don't leak
