ORIGINAL: rw98

i'd go with the typhoon for $500 and get 23hp on a stock motor how much for p51 like $1200 and how much hp for your money? for the money the typhoon is your best bet w/the leftover money go buy yourself a good shot of nos..
You guys need to read more in depth. Has anyone read that article in 5.0 Mustangs that did the test on the Typhoon intake.

#1 The Typhoon Intake was tested on a Roush Mustang whihc was already putting down over 300 RWHP. THAT IS NOT STOCK!
#2 The Power band actually lost power unitl it got over 5400 RPM. That means that on a stock rotating assembly we will only see power gains for a maximum of 600 RPM
#3 YOU WILL NEVER SEE +23 RWHP ON A STOCK MOTOR WITH THAT INTAKE, I am willing to bet money that your average HP will actually drop w/o any major supporting mods (i.e. head work, cams, and/or FI)

There are not many people on this forum making enough power to benefit from an intake manifold upgrade. The stock manifold is plenty good. Now I am not going to stop from going out am buying one, but just realize that 95% of you guys will lose power by doing so. Anyone that is FI or has a cam bigger than a stage 1 (.500 lift, about 260*-265* duration) will benefit from a new intake manifold. SOme of you need to understand and read what these magazine articles are presenting to you. The company sends all kinds of free prototype parts to these magazines and if you ever notice they always test the expensive ones on highly modded vehicles so they will show larger gains. Our 4.6's already do not respond very well to bolt ons like the new 4.6's do, so do your guys really think that you are gonna see +23 RWHP from a $500 mod on your stock motor?

i just dont see how you could ever get 23hp out of the intake. its just not restrictive.

I thought about getting one, since I plan on going S/Ced over the winter, but we'll see.. I've seen a few P-51's on Ebay, going for semi-cheap.. I still think it's a good idea for most of the "Street Fighters," around here, since it's mild, and works under 6100RPM.. Mid range is increased, and throttle response would definitely be better...

I am still going to wait until someone actually throws it on their car.. I want to see someone w/ VT Stage 2's, and some other semi-serious mods put it on, and see what they get..
