Default Need Help!!!! ASAP

Driving home i slowed down to pull in my driveway and my car died. Cranked it back up and pulled into the driveway. WTF?? I noticed that when I push on the brakes the motor boggs down. Also the brake pedal is really rough when trying to press it down. I checked the brake fluid and it is full. Anyone?

Do you hear a hissing sound when the car is running? Check your vacuum line to the brake booster, it sounds to me like its busted.

When facing the booster its usually located at around the 10 o clock position. Youll see it, its the only line going to the brake booster. If youre hearing hissing inside the car, especially if when you step on the brake, I am certain that your brake booster is bad. Itll need to be replaced. Another thing, usually brake booster dont just go bad, more often than not its because the master cylinder sprung a leak where the rod actully goes into the housing. When removing the master to get at the booster check for wetness where the master was seated to the booster. If its wet replace the master cylinder along with the booster.

Nope, no hissing. I checked the vacuum line and it looks OK. Now the brake pedal will hardly press in although the car will still stop. It is like trying to press in the break while the car is off.

then check the hose where it hooks up to the manifold, dont be afraid to move it around. Theres probably a plastic elbow before the manifold, check that very closly as thats where I suspect your vacuum leak is (Im thinkin thats why your car died).

PS: when you checked for hissing was the car running?

The hissing i have been hearing has been in the morning while the car is still cold. It goes away after warming up. There is no hissing as of right now with the car on. Will go check the manifold now.

hmm... So the hissing is coming from the brakes or is it from somewhere in the engine?

If its a booster problem youd hear it inside the car (most of the time). And it would get louder or change when you step on the brake pedal.
