get an 02 or an 03. an 04 is good too, but if you plan on doing an X pipe youll need extensions.

OK here's my .02

99-00: vitrually the same. First two years of the new Power Improved 4.6 V8 which was equipped with better cams intake manifold and heads then 96-98.

01: The year of change for the body style. Spoiler now has two ends that extend past the two columns that mount it. Side scoops are now at the vertical instead of being diagonal. Hood scoop is more defined by actually rising above the hood rather then being flush with the greater majority of it. This was also the first year for the beloved "bullit" rims....that came with the gt premium package. On that note I do not beleive that the premium rims changed at all from 01-04. I know this because I bought 2001 premium gt bullits and they are an exact match to my dad's premium gt rims on his 04 vert. About halfway through this year they changed the pullies on the engine (i honestly dont know why mayb someone can chime in on that) to shorter ones so you need to be aware of this if you purchase undredrive pullies. ALso about halfway through this year The T-45 was replaced by the T-3650. Idk what some of you guys are doing but god damn i havent heard of syncros going that early...w/e I have an auto so I can't really comment on that. Halway through this year was also the transition from the windsor engine block to the romeo block.

02-03: As far I can assertain these two model years were relatively unchanged between each other...they changed little if at all since 01....please correct me if Im wrong.

04: This year (and possibly earlier idk) the exasut system changed. I remember noticing a difference between my dad's exhaust note and mine and when I looked under my car I beleive his mufflers were farther back then mine. This was also the 40th anniversary year for the mustang which replaced the gt emblems that were on the front side panel near the door, with 40th anniversary logos. Oh yes and just to reiterate the bosses for the 02 sensors were changed this year which reuired you to buy 02 entenders in order to utilize an aftermarket midpipe.

Pretty sure thats it...if anyone has anything to add or correct feel free.

i have the mach 460.. and i love music. It's like my second car. If i could upgrade for a mach 1000 for cheap i would, but i just put up two 10' MTX subs in the trunk..not much space left, but hey, what else would u use it for?

Ok i plan on buying a Mustang GT this month and i was just wondering which of these mustang GT's are the best i understand they are mostly the same however, but which would you recomend the 99, 00, 01, 02, or 03. Is the mach sound system really worth it? any output will help greatly!
The best, depends on what you want. They are all relatively the same. I won't repeat everything mentioned, but the guys have given you a good idea of the minor differences. I would say unless your looking for a DD, buy the cheaapest mustang (99-04) in good condition that you can get and mod the **** out of it. I got a 99 gt vert for under 10k, taxes, title etc. and going cheap soon I'll be putting in some serious modifications, that I couldn't have got if I dropped twice that on a newer car. However if this is going to be your daily driver, get a newer car.

03 with 46k miles for $19,000? That sounds very high...you can probably find an 99-01 with similar milage for around $10,000.
