Default crack in intake manifold

i have been having some problems with my 00 gt, alternator, battery problems and now a giant leak in the intake manifold. sprays anitfreeze all over engine compartment and all over new alternator which now shorted out. took it to my friends shop, called ford to see how much for new intake manifold.... 800.00??? ford = rip off... friend shops around.. found one for 340... i found one on mustang tuning for 192 (plastic.. stock...no!) the one i got is aluminum... maybe ford should of done that..im really hating ford right now, but still love the mustang even though she is bleeding everywhere... with install which i could do but my dad wants the shop to do it... around 1100, including another new alternator...

so much for some new mods.... lol

anyone else have this problem b 4

They have a recall for that. Take it to Ford and they will fix it for free.

I have a 2000 and I got a notification on the recall. Call ford and talk to one of the service guys there. They will fix it. Service writers just want to get paid they don't care if you pay for it or a Warranty pays for it. There was definitely a recall though. Actually a class action law suit

Yes, there was a recall for it but unfortunately it expired on March 15th as I recall. They settled last year and gave owners four monthes to come forward to replace it. After that, it is done.

If he could prove that he was never notified than they still may cover it. Mine has not begun leaking and if it did I would probably go the Edelbrock aluminum route. Edelbrock= if it ain't broke don't fix it. Edelbrock still makes high quality stuff.

I have a 98 GT and mine just cracked the other day. The only replacement I can find is the PI Intake, part number: M-9424-P46. That is the one everyone sells for a replacement because it has the aluminum waterline instead of plastic. I was trying to put it on tonight and it does not fit. It is too tall, it is hitting the water line running to the heater core. I just had an idea to relocate the waterline. I wonder if that would help it fit correctly? I am checking on the net right now and it is says that it fits the 01-04 but only fits the 98 with PI heads and additional parts. I don't know how to replace the manifold without getting new heads. Maybe I will just call Ford tommorrow and see what they say.

i cracked my own, over torqueing the thermo housing, replaced it myself, cost of new intake w/ aluminum crossover was 213$...shipped, other costs were mechanic rags, carb cleaner, torque wrench (no more over-torque!) and spark plugs/drive belt since i was there anyways.
