Default Autometer Lunar Instrument Cluster

Why is it that on mustang tuning there is one for a 99-00 and one for 2001-02 what is the diff?

Does anyone know of any places that sell them cheaper than around 460-470 new? Thanks a lot for any feedback everyone Dan-

Why the difference?

If you have a Mid 01-04 stang, and you get the cluster for a 99-mid 01, your rear defroster will ALWAYS be on, and when you push the rear defroster button, you'll blow a fuse (tied to the rear defroster circuit, also the same fuse for the A/C compressor clutch). I have personal experience with this one (Still no help from anyone here on the wiring fix for that, no electrical diagrams to be found from all these experts... this forum is a blessing sometimes, and utterly useless others).

As for the other way around, I can imagine that your rear defroster would not work at all, or it would fry your instrument cluster. I can't say for sure on anything for this though. It will -work- either way, but you'll have rear defroster issues. Just get the correct year range.

Thanks kindly, the first person offering to help... I'd love to have a working rear defroster again... instead of going to the engine bay and putting the fuse back in to turn it on [8D]

If you can find one, or a good manual that has one, I need a wiring diagram for an 04 mustang GT... I need to see how exactly the rear defroster is entirely wired up so I can find out why it is always on because of a swapped instrument cluster.

Alternatively, a write-up that will let me turn the button that toggles the rear defroster into a mechanical switch that will make or break the connection for the circuit will do. When the fuse in the engine bay is in, the circuit is always complete and the rear defroster stays on. I suppose I could drill out the switch that is there and put a regular flip switch in, but it won't look as nice as stock... I'd like to keep the button the way it is (the light on it, too). I'm not the best at describing this, but maybe I've given you the idea of what I need.

Thanks ahead of time... I haven't had much luck finding either of these.
