Default How old can I buy a gt?

I've got about 8 - 9 grand that I have made and I was just wandering if I should by a gt? or just the plain base Stang. How many problems am I going to have with a car thats a 99 and got 60-80 thousand miles on it? Is it gonna die the next day? Or will I be able to run it hard for a few years. I could get a compareable base mustang with 50 thou miles on it but it wouldnt just have the power the gt has. Im not familiar with Ford how do these cars run. Will the engine last a long time, but tons of other repairs??? or what

MY sister has the base model with 120,000 miles. It runs great. But we kept it pretty well maintained. The only major thing that we've had a problem with is the clutch. It hasnt gone out but it just squeaks. We've bought a new one for a reasonable cheap price.(just havent had a chance to put it it) So all in all its a great car.

I have a 96 gt with 64,000 miles and its still going strong. So is my friends GT with 70,000 miles. It really Boils down to how well you take care of your car. If you do what your supposed to it will last a long time. Just dont rag it out and never do scheduled maintences. Because that will deffiantly have an effect on the life of a car.

For 9 grand you could get a 60-70,000 mile 99+ GT.

The problem is, it's been driven hard and you might be buying someone elses headache.

For 9k, you could have yourself one hell of a modified Fox Body...

Yeah i defaintly agree with dan02Gt. If you do end up buying a newer stang. Know who the former owner was. A lil old lady drove mine so i know it was babyed. Dont buy one that had a teenage owner. Cause then your defiantly buying a stang that has been USED.

A fox body is a stang from 79-93 witch is a little older but you can get a good deal on it with a lot of modifacations alredy done. i think if you are looking for something good looking and not that old go with 94-00 if you want a gt, and if you want a v6 go with 99 & up as they have respectible power for a v6. i have a 96 gt and it rocks even with 100,000 miles but i do take care of it vary well. Alot of people will say go with 99 or newer gt as they have more power but you don't seem to care that much for power and a 96-98 gt would suit you well and save you some money... Just my 2 cents

One that has been driven fast isn't a problem. I drive mine fast all the time, but I don't beat it. I've smoked the tires once in the last year or so, and I never powershift it. I'm pretty easy on the clutch. Stuff like that can be a problem. Feel free to drive it fast. Thats not going to hurt it.

Keep in mind, it's a Mustang. It's meant to be driven hard. Lighting the tires up every so often isn't going to hurt it...Just don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine. It's going to squeak and rattle no matter what. Clutch, Tires, Brakes, Accidents...Look for stuff like that. One with no dents, door dings, or scratches it's probably safe to assume that the guy was pretty **** about it. Especially if it's a few years old.

Yeah, just get a carfax report on it before you buy it.
