Default cam gears

i heard that when i install my comp cams i may have to buy cam gears because my cams may be pressed on are some models pressed on some not? or what mine is an 03 if that helps

Don't quote me on this but I think the 01 1/2 models have the non pressed on ones. I know my 00 had pressed on cam gears, so I had to get some new ones.

Most, not all, were bolt on after mid '01. I believe the romeo motors had bolt on. Look at your VIN. The 8th character will be an X or a W. X = windsor, W = romeo. Go figure. The only way to be absolutely sure is to pop a valve cover off and see.

i was wondering the same thing when i was doing my cams, i think if you have a windsor, you dont have too, dont quote me on that, i think that is what scott from VT told me, i didnt need them (windsor), but it was like 75 or so if you do. look on vtengines.com and select a cam set then you will see the optional gear add on. actually i just looked for you, they are $69.
