Tuner shift point question
Alright, loaded up my diablo tune today, and was ready to check out the new shifting goodness, when i realized that it was shifting like normal - which is odd, because i checked the tune and the shift points were set to 5500rpm each. do the higher shifts only come under WOT?
also, is it pointless to have higher shift points if you dont have a taller gear than stock?

RE: Tuner shift point question
the diablo tune setting is 5500, so i left it at that. didnt have too much time to tinker.
how does the car or the tune determine it is under WOT in order for tune parameters to kick in?

RE: Tuner shift point question
Yea, the shift points will get higher the more gas you give it, it knows from the TPS. If you want the shifts to feel firmer at part throttle you have to set the torque modulation to off (this one doesn't make a huge difference either) then you should also have a part throttle shift firmness, there is one for each shift, 1-2,2-3, 3-4... I set mine firm on the 1-2 and the 2-3 and left the 3-4 stock, made it feel a lot better. ( incedently, I bought my predator off of ebay and it had an older version of the software on it, which did not have the part throttle adjustments, if you don't have them, you can go to diablosport's website and download the latest version of the software, to find out if you have it, plug the tuner in and on the first or second screen it tells you the version, it should be 750rd, I believe, but if you don't have the latest software, I highly reccomend getting it, it made a huge difference. Thats what I like about the predator, it will be a long time before it is out of date, cause diablosport offers the updates free every time they update it. To hook it up to a computer, you need a 9 pin serial cable, and if your comp. doesn't have a 9 pin serial port, like mine, U need a usb adaptor also, dont buy it at radio shack, theres won't work with Windows XP MCE, I ended up getting one that worked at Comp USA......... Good luck, hope all this makes sence

RE: Tuner shift point question
alright, thanks for the info. already have the cable, went to BB and got a serial to USB cable, and it works great. updating the firmware was the first thing i did, so i am definitely up to date. didnt touch the shift firmness yet, i was just messing around a bit until i was comfortable with it. i dont seem to 'feel' any differences with it yet tho.
