Check engine light wont go off NEED HELP!!
My check engine light wont go off and nobody seems to know what is wrong. The code reads that it is a slow response in the O2 sensors. The first time I found this out, I replaced the sensors and the car ran good for a day then the light came on again. I replaced the O2 sensors again and it lasted for about three days before the light turned on agian. I exchanged the O2 sensors for yet another set and the light is on again after only 1 day, anyone know what the hell is wrong? I've replaced the oxygen sensors 3 times and still the same problem occurs again. The car runs and sounds weird plus it slams gas like no other. Everytime the light comes on and I get it looked at it always says slow response from O2 sensors (the pre-cat ones; but I have no cats! I have mil eliminators for the post cat but I just cant figure out whats wrong.

did you ever have this problem before you put the mil eliminators on?.. I know that depending on the brand.. mil eliminators are sometims hit or miss. they might just be a crapy set.. if you have a tuner you can turn the 02's off with that.

I want to get the SCT tuner but I just dont have the $ right now. Any suggestions on what to do in the time being? The Mil eliminators work good. They are Cobra I believe and I have steeda O2 extensions. The car runs horrible when the light comes on. The car idles real low and almost dies out at stops. The exhaust sounds more like a helicopter then a muscle car. And the car leaves off horrible fuems and goes through gas like crazy!

I had the same problem - slow response from upstream passenger side PO153. Mine was on for a year, no prob w/ mileage though. Finally, I decided to take the air box off and it turned off! I see you already have a K & N FIPK, so I'm not too sure what to tell ya. Mine comes on occasionally for a day or two about once every 3 months. Try taking off the mil's and see what happens. BTW, unplug the battery for a half hour after you remove the mil's. If that doesn't work, try getting some new mil's. Make sure your air filter is clean, if it's been awhile, you might want to clean it. Also, clean your MAF and IAT sensors. Maybe new spark plugs too. Sometimes the OBDII codes don't quite correspond to the exact location of the problem.
Like I said, my problem was I never took of that stock air box even having the car for 3 years. Later I got a fender cai.
The last advise I can give is to get a dyno tune from a shop. Your a/f ratio may be off causing o2 sensor problems.
