Default Transmission Problem?

Hey all. Question about my car. Lastnight I was out and about with a couple friends, and needless to say, I did something stupid.
All I know now, is that when I hit the gas, the rpms raise but I get no acceleration, and then following that, I get very mild acceleration.

Does this sound like I burned out the clutch? It engages, but very high. Its most noticable in 2nd-5th.

The car is drivable, but it isn't easy. To make matters worse, I hopped in my winter car to take it to work, and their is something wrong with that car as well.

When it rains, it pours. And conveniently 10 days before our wedding.

I'm taking it in but not until thursday. I'm sure it WON'T be covered under warranty.
Any help is appreciated.

sounds like the clutch took a dump... sorry about the other car too...

I know your pain all to well. if something is gonna break, it takes seventeen other parts with it and the disease of being broken spreads to all the other cars I have to drive.

what did you do??? what kinda car??

Its a '00 GT. I'm so embarassed, I don't even want to say what I did. I've been driving for 12 years, and leave it to me to do something like this.
Without getting harassed for this, I had a couple drinks in me and was ok to drive, but for the sake of my car and others around me, it was probably
better I didn't. Maybe my judgment was clouded......Needless to say, I learned my lesson the hard way. And now instead of investing money in my exhaust or springs,
I have to buy something that is completely unnecessary.

As for my Legacy, I started to pull away, and all I heard was thud, thud, thud. Kinda like the sound of a flat tire. It had been sitting for about
3 weeks and in over a year of owning it, never had a problem.

How much is a new clutch assembly installed roughly?

Alright, alright []
Let me preface this by saying..... a good friend of mine had a brand new '99GT (stock) back in the day. He used to just sit in one
spot and smoke the hell out of his tires. So since owning the car, i've done a couple nice burnouts and the car launches,
chirp second. Good stuff. Usually very respectful of the car, and baby the hell out of it. But last evening, Tommy decided HE wants to do a smoke show for the very first time and try to show off for his buddy.
Without ANY knowledge of how this is done. Mind you, my reactions are slightly retarded, so what I THOUGHT I did, was dump the clutch
and slam on the brakes, but the next thing I know, I'm redlining and the wheels......are NOT spinning. We did see smoke, but it wasn't the tires,
and I definitely smelled burning clutch. I just hope it isn't anything more serious.

Guess I should have came on here first and just asked the Rookie question of what needed to be done, the right way......lol.

Anyway, a very valuable lesson was learned here. I'm soooooo bummed out though.

Go ahead. Laugh on.......laugh on. Lets hear it......

clutch will cost around $180 and on up depending on what you want. i got a king cobra, to my door for $180.

Install is anywhere from $300-500 depending on the shop. I know a guy with a 96 GT who got it done for 250, but that is a dealll.. I did it myself and it was a pita with jackstands and hand tools but I could not afford a shop doing it.

whatever you do, resurface or replace the flywheel!!!!!!!!

Just an update.....guess it turned out that the clutch just needed to be adjusted. I didn't know Mustang clutch pedals were adjustable and how easy it was.
Good to know.
