Default 274/40 's too big?

Are 275/40/17 too big for the front of a 98 gt?

That is the exact size I have on the rear of my 96 and have had no problem. I actually think you can go widder but check with someone that has done it before you take my word.

I had 275/40/17s on the front of mine before and I didn't like the way the front end seemed to hunt out ruts in the road. It felt like someone was grabbing my steering wheel and jerking the car to the right or left. Once I went back to 255/40/17s it doesn't do it anymore.

I have 275/40 17s all the way around. I like them a lot. I get minor rubbing in the front during hard cornering sometimes from the left side.
It is just the plastic liner so I am not too worried.

I have 275/40s up front, and it only rubs when I turn one way 100% sharp. My car does pull around a lot more...but my negative camber isn't helping that either.
