Default egr valve removal

how the hell did you, or your mechanic go about unscrewing the egr valve? that sucker is on there good. i was thinking getting some vise grips around it then sliding a long bar over the handle and going at it that way. pb blaster didnt do much, its not rusty, there is just no apparent way to get a wrench around it. do i have to disconnect the egr tube from the header first? just need some tips as to how you succesfully got that sob off. thanks

im tempted to just unbolt it from the header and toss the whole thing out and get a new tube. ill take another shot at it when it stops raining, if it ever does. yeah im not looking forward to the tps either, i might just buy a new one and say **** it to getting the old one off.
