You will need a reducer. The stock midpipe is 2.25 I think, but I'm not certain. It may be 2.5. Most after market ones are 2.5.
3 inch exhaust is too much for a NA car either way, but good for turbo I'm told.

If you have long tubes you cant even use the stock midpipe... so whats it matter?
