Default is it safe?

is it ok to put a 245/40 17 ons the stock 17" rims??? the tires on there now are 245/45/17 so i was just checking if it would be ok to do so. New to the whole car thing.

Yes, but your speedometer will be incorrect. (Different total tire height)

See if you can find some 245/45-17s.
