Everytime i fill up it smells like gas in the car for a couple of days. My check engine light is also one the code is 1433 or something like that. I ordered a new gas cap for it as that is the cheapest thing related to the code it spit out. Do all mustangs have this smell, is it something to be concerned about???

it could be the gas cap... put that on and see what that gets you

thats not normal, and i dont know what would throw your code, but try checking the filler neck. if you're only smelling it after you fill up, and only for a few days later, you may have a leak at the filler neck grommit on the gas tank, or somewhere on the filler neck. doubt its the gas cap.

1443 code is EVAP Emission Control System Control Valve Malfunction, gas cap want fix that. I would guess since the control valve has a malfunction maybe the pressure in the evap system is too high and leaking out or something?

what should i do then to get rid of the check engine light. It is for the EVAP code 1443

Check the wiring to the control valve first, make sure its alright, not cut, insulation missing and bare wire grounding out etc. if all that is fine then replace the valve and clear the code.

If it's an evap leak you might want to have it smoke tested. It's easier than just looking for a pin hole or a cracked hose. I work at a chrysler dealership and the techs all agree that smoke testing is the easiest way to find a leak.

where is the evap valve located, i was looking for it the other day and could not find it, is it possibly in the fender?

I hate to reply a day later on this but I just had this happen.! I had the exact same code, smell and all around symptoms.. Ford looked at it and I was stuck with a $500. repair bill. The filler neck had a small crack in it. And it was not covered my extended warranty (dirty bastages) Hopes this helps but that's odd you are have the same problems!!! The guy at ford told me he has only seen this one other time and it was on a taurus!!!!
