Default aluminum driveshaft ??

i know they are much lighter and stronger but does this help get more power to the wheels? less drivetrain loss?

It is supposed to give you a slight RWHP gain but I have not see anyone measure or prove it.

I would not have gone with an aluminum except that my old yoke was screwed up, and it was cheaper to buy the FRPP aluminum shaft instead of just a yoke.

well im just wondering cuz my gear is being put in now and he said he would put an alum. d.s. for no extra labor while hes got it in the air, so i said go ahead. you would think it would have a positive effect on hp loss to the wheels anyways.

how much are you getting charged for the part??

Its isn't gonna hurt anything. I dunno if I would have done it if I didn't need a new one anyway, but its not a bad or useless mod.

If nothing else, they are supposed to be stronger.

simple physics....

they weigh less, therefor it takes less power to get them moving, therefor the rpms can climb faster,
therefor your faster.....[sm=rolleyes.gif]

EVEN THO......since it IS lighter, the rpms will drop more rapidly between shifts, but the pros outweight the cons

yeah i was just on www.mustangtuning.com and got a little info on the frpp alum. d.s. :

Ford FRPP 96-04 GT and 96-98 Cobra Aluminum Driveshaft

These light-weight Ford Racing aluminum driveshafts will reduce the rotating mass of your car and allow you to put more horsepower to the ground. Made from high-strength 3.5" diameter aluminum seamless drawn tubing. For manual transmissions only.

so i guess its prolly worth it.

Personally I noticed 0 difference either way.

I wieghed the stocker and the FRPP peice, and it was only like a 8 pound difference. I know that rotating wieght is a bit different though.

Like I said, I have one, and I didn't notice a difference. but its only like 150-200 bucks, so.....

you should get a carbon fiber drive shaft. they weigh nothing. but they are almost 600 dollars.

No, this would happen only on an aluminum flywheel. Since when you depress the clutch you disengage the whole drivetrain.
