Default RE: bbk exhaust

i installed long tubes on a 2002 GT a month or two ago. whoever said it was a 12 hour job a few posts up is either right on the money, or maybe a little light. we took a lot longer, but weren't concentrating too hard on it. i think 15 hours would've been about right, considering we were doing it with 2 floor jacks and some jack stands.

ADVICE: If you do it yourself, when it comes to bolting the new headers on, you CAN NOT get to the bolts from the top of the motor. Our kit said to raise the engine 2" to allow access. Raising the engine did practically NOTHING for us. Our kit said it could be done without pulling the K-member. I didn't see how. Drop the K-member and save yourself a huge headache. You'll end up with the K member laying on the ground, completely disconnected. So we did that, dropped the engine 2", and VIOLA! We could reach all the bolts. Just don't forget to pick up power steering fluid to replace what will drain out. It's probably the most frustrating thing I've ever done on a car. Hope you're good with hand tools, and able to work with your arms/wrists/hands in some pretty funny positions. In the end, it's worth it though.

If you have any questions about it, just ask. It's still pretty fresh in my memory, so I might be able to help.
