Default transmission

How long can i expect my transmission to last when I get my blower? I'll have about 400 horsepower or so.

If you don't beat the hell out of it and stay away from powershifting it's kinda like a stock car. It might break, and it might not.

The better you treat it the longer it will last. Its entirely conciveable that a stock transmission will last 100K+ miles on a blower car, if you treat it right.

Also, before the blower you should swap out to full synthetic fluid. Hell, everyone should be running full synthetic in the trans and rear end.

alright cool, it's a 5 speed with the newer trans I think. What are some good transmissions and should I go trans or internals after I get the blower.

I never have and probably never will regret the TKO setup, but I would not bother with it until the stocker gave way.

how is the shift smoothness on that one? is it a 5 speed? is it a direct swap with say a T45 or are there some adjustments to be made?

(just curious because I will probably be getting a new engine and may upgrade my tranny while it's all out)

There were a few light modifications that had to be done to the transmission mount bar in the back, but nothing anyone with a cut off wheel could not do.

You will need a belhousing, and depending on which TKO you go with a different clutch for the spline input and a different yoke for the output.

Its also a good time to look into getting a new flywheel or at least getting your old one resurfaced.
