Default new clutch slipping

Well it was a long and agonizing week without my car, but i finally got it back today and WOW what a difference. I had the shop put in Longtubes, 3:73's and a new clutch. Its killing me though because i can't romp on it until my clutch breaks in. So i have been driving around trying to get up to 500 miles as fast as possible. lol! I punched it in second once though (couldn't help it) and man is she fast now. Well onto the question i have, my clutch seems as if it is slipping when i take off in first and i get that burnt clutch smell. Is this because it is new and not broken in right? or because it was installed wrong? It has gotten a bit better since i got it, but it is still doing it a little.

probably because it's not quite worn in. My king cobra smelled funny for about 100 miles, then after 500 all was well.. now if I play my cards right i can chirp 2nd or smoke it... with the stock rear end

just give it some time it should go away... if anything, try adjusting the clutch cable it may be too tight, but i doubt it

I didn't buy a clutch adjuster, but when i push the pedal in it feels like it is at the correct length. it seems that it engages at the right point and everything. I'll give it another 200 miles or so of babying it and see how it is then. Hopefully it smoothes out.

it should man... you should have about 1- 1.5 inches of free play, like try to wiggle the pedal with your hand and it should feel a little bit free to jiggle, that's pretty much how you know if it's set right or not... that's how mine is right now and it works great

if you have no free play, it could still be holding the clutch disengaged... but more than anything i think it's because it's not broken in

think about it, when you put on new brake pads and rotors, they don't grab to maximum tightness until you break them in...same idea

Sorry, quick question... Car is in sig, and i managed to chirp second once when it was all stock, with tires that were like 4 weeks old... Is this rare, or do I just not hear about stock guys doing this?

what's so hard about chirping 2nd? I thought that was easy for all Mustang GT's.
