radiator help?
ok ill try to explain this as much as possible. I have a 2000 gt and recently the radiator coolant light came on. I checked underneath the car and there was a pool of coolant lying there, so i jacked the car up and looked for a leak and i believe that i found one at the heating core. i took it to two different shops and they confirmed that it was leaking at the heating core. they want between 455-499 for labor and parts. is this a fair price? also what could of caused this and can this be fixed at home if i buy the parts needed?

RE: radiator help?
you can bypass the heater core until you get the money to fix it, hopefully before winter =p
just take the two hoses from the heater core and put them together with a peice of steel pipe, and two clamps.

I think I would pay the $500 and leave it up to someone else. That job is a major PITA. [:@]

It is an absolute shame they way Ford puts it's dashes together. This is one of my few complaints with the manufacturer. It will cost you a nice penny to have a $50 part changed. I took a T-bird apart once to change the core, and I swore I would never do it again. I'm with the other guy, just pay the money.

damn i expected so...i knew the part shouldnt be expensive but i was thinking about how hard it would be to pull the dash and if i would even have time to do that. well i guess its back to sharing my dads car till i get the cash.
