Have you checked the idle port clearance in the carb bores? Holley/Demon generally call for about 0.020" to be showing below the blades at idle. You may also look into changing your air bleeds...

We have found good and bad with different brands but mostly they seem to like the stock Motorcraft plugs when it has just a few mods done to it. usually around 50,000 miles, Ford says 100,000 but thats really a stretch, good luck.
