Default Difference in 98 and 99 mustang engine

Ok i am looking a a 98 mustang and 99. both have the same engine, but like 40 hp differnce. what did they do to make more hp. i would rather have a 98 gt due to price , but i would like to know if it would be real cheap to get it up to 99 hp. or for that matter the difference in 96-99. goes from 205 to 260 hp with the same engine.

they have a different tune as far as I know... the 96 and 97s have 215 horse (like mine) and the 98s have 225... 10 horse from a better factory tune

your better off going with the 99. if you do some boltons, then you will be equal to a 99-04, where as if you bolt on parts to the 99 you will be beating 99-04. to me i think its better to get the 99.

+1

also since its one of the newer body styles its going to hold its value a little better than the 98

well not getting it for performance really. i have a 86gt that is my fast car. this will be a automatic convertible gt. More for looks and maybe a little sound. Cant see buying a 6cyl. that is not a mustang to me. i just would like to get the faster of the 96-98. cant really afford the 99 gt convert.

sweet dude... the SN95s are not the fastest, but I like the look

that's why i'm keeping this car as long as humanly possible, and when it retires from being my DD it will become my drag car
