Default Bolt On Help?

I have had my car since October of last year and now I have decided to start investing money into it. I plan on getting a CAI, TB & Plenum, gears, and a full exhaust. Then after that if i still feel the need for power I might start doing serious engine work suchs as heads, and cam but that would be far away from now. At the moment the only thing done to my car is the Tri-Ax short shifter, and supposedly a flowmaster muffler or something of that nature. I have yet to get under and check but I should soon. At the moment I have like $1000 to spend so I was considering ordering a CAI, and TB Plenum combo because installation would be free because I will be doing it myself. The gears are 400 installed at a local shop but the guy was telling me that their crappy gears and the Ford ones will be more expensive and also that I should change the bearings at the same time which would be another 150 not including the price difference for the ford gears. I decided to hold out on these for a while and get the gears last. I was looking into getting a full exhaust system starting with LT headers, then buying a X or H pipe(not sure yet have to do more research on em), and then a catback exhaust. But I found that to be rather pricy for the budget im working with right now. So i was mainly wondering what you guys recommend doing, and in what order for example CAI, then exhaust, then Tb etc. Im really leaning towards CAI, and TB Plenum combo because of the price. In August I should have another 1000 to work with plus the remaining money I dont use after getting whatever I decide to get now. Also if you guys could also post your reccomendations on which products and size to go with for example BBK intake, and Accufab Tb and Plenum 70mm or 75mm.

Thanks for the input, and sorry for the long write up.

buy a tuner and a catback and under drive pullies now this is easily under 1k, than later this summer decide on the long tubes and mid pipe or gears, hell you might even be able to get both. IMO the CAI is almost worthless as far as power goes. I really didn't notice a difference. The mod bug will never end, so don't think 2k will be all you put into the car...

On a 2000 GT Vert, I would do gears 390 or better yet 410's then LCA's and UCA's so you can plant the back. Headers are a crap load of $ for a few hp gain. If you do get them be smart and get the LT's matching x. there is alot of good info in here and other places so do your research first.

happy moding.

underdrive pulleys free-up power. They will net you about 5 hp. Don't bother with the CAI unless you really want to, it will get you maybe a couple horses. If I were you I would start with one of two options.

Option #1 - Long tubes and a mid-pipe. This will provide some nice power gains.

Option #2 - Gears and a tuner. Will provide the best bang for your buck. Will accelerate much faster.

So i called up my local shop and they said for the gears it would be about 700 installed for either the Ford, or another company which name I cant remember but i think it starts with a B. He said that the other ones would be quieter than the ford and has life time warranty with the company. Also the price includes change all the bearings and everything else rather than reusing all the old stuff, does this sound like a good price to you guys. O and i forgot the most important thing I heard that 4.10's will give you more acceleration but kill some top end speed, and also efficency because the car revs higher than the 3.73's. He actually recommend the 3.73's. I asked him about the 3.90s and he said that they have never installed 3.90s or even seen a mustang down here with some. As you guys can tell I intend to do more work over time but keep the car my DD, which involves 40 hwy miles a day and im getting about 250miles a fill. So pretty much I just want to know if this is a good price, and also which guys would you guys recommend and why?
