Default 4.6 VS 5.0 Stangs

I was wondering how much more horsepower you would get from a 5.0 than a 4.6 whether it be from having a larger displacement or whatever. If i bored my 4.6 out to a 5 litre what amound of hp would i expect to see?

That depends. while you have your motor taken out and apart might as well p&p the heads and get some cams. I did all that to mine but have not taken it to the dyno yet so I will let you know soon.

I have heard that most people do not recommend stroking out the 4.6L engines.

You will not see much of a gain on a stock engine stroking it from a 4.6 to a 5.0.

Well, you also have ported heads and cams, which allow you to take advantage of the extra displacement.

I don't see how you would see anything close to 50 hp. In fact, I can say with authority its impossible.

Hell, the average built 2v (4.6L) is only making somewhere around 340~ WHP. The highest 2v I have seen N/A was making around 360 WHP, and I do believe he had a stroker kit of some type.

In the end, its only 20 cubic inchs or so. I don't see massive gains coming from that, espcially with anything stock sitting on top of it (heads/cams/intake).

you won't see hardly any gains from stroking a 4.6...you will gain some tq...now you will gain 20-30hp and 40tq from a big bore. There have been alot of disappointed guys who gained nothing from a stroker...do a search on mod depot...alot of threads with dyno's about it.
