Default actual HP?

aite I have a 2003 GT and i know it is rated at 260 horses...but how many horses does it really have at the back wheels? anybody know? my bro told me that fords overate how much horsepower a car has and the actual HP is lower...can somebody shed some light on this subject?

its not that my bro doesnt like fords...i was just wondering if anybody here has taken their stock gt to a dyno to actually see what the horsepower is like coming out the back wheels...anybody?

I know its in the low 200's at the rear. If I can find a recent MMFF article, I will post it. They baselined a stock GT.

most get about 225 at the wheels. most mustangs lose about 35 horses through the tranny. </P>

ford does NOT lye about their power ratings. their rating is a flywheel number, not a rear wheel number.

Yeah, about 10-15 percent of hp is lost thorough the drivetrain and that applies to all cars.

correct. Every car loses hp coming from the flywheel to the wheels. It has to. 260 hp is a correct hp on the motor, as 225-230 would be my guess for the rwhp.
