Default Now Why Would Someone Do This?!?

Ok, here is the scenerio, i have the normal GT and i was going to put a stroker kit in it, with forged everything, and i need to know if i can run higher boost on a aluminum block or a cast iron block so i know what to buy when i do this, plus not many people rebuild their GT motor and forged it and stroke it. i want to get about 650-700 to the wheel with the help of a procharger of course...i was just wondering what block i should buy because i dont know which one can handle higher boost better. Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's more about the compression ratio than the block material. Didn't the last Cobra run with an aluminum block?

i believe you can buy prepped aluminum blocks that can support that much hp, but it's gonna be mucho $$$

I doubt the 99/01 cobra's had an aluminum block, I think only their cranks were forged aluminum. Well even the new GT500 has an iron block. Aluminum blocks are probably more for weight savings. I would think that as long as you get forged internals you should be good for 600-700 horses, as long as you use low compression.

03/04 Cobras = Cast Iron Block

05 Ford GT = Cast Aluminum Block w/ SC...

As long as you're not putting 35+psi through your engine, I can't imagine you'd blow your cylinder walls out.. You'd be more likely to break wrist pins and blow rings/head gaskets before punching a hole in your block..
