I've seen a Fed. '95 Crown Vic 4.6 with almost 300k on it & all they ever did was scheduled maintainence on it.

Well I have 120K on my GT and it runs fine. I had to buy new plugs and wires. Then I had my intake manifold fixed under warranty. Those are the only things I've had to do. But thats normal tune up stuff except for the manifold. My car runs great. No engine problems. I am replacing the clutch soon too before it goes out. I haven't had it long and it came to me worn out so I just bought the new clutch.... My car runs great and nothing has been that bad. Its taken its beatings, and is a good hardy little pony...

Nothing is wrong with Ford automatics, that's total bull.

There is far more problems with the 5 speeds equipped in GT's than there is with automatics..

My 2000 GT has 40kmiles.. I change oil every 3k and baby it always.. never shift at more than 2500rpm and always avoid potholes, manholes.. I hope it lasts forever

I ran Amsoil PI (fuel system cleaner) through my '96 (85,000) and it runs like a new beast. Bottle says 6oz first time through, then 1oz/10 gallons periodically afterwards. I saw a big hit during and after the initial dose. It kind of tapered off when I quit using it, so I started running ~1.5oz every fillup for a while. I felt a big difference. I've since stopped the dosage every fillup and performance has remained the same. I still plan to run a dose every so often.

I've tried a lot of fuel injection cleaners over the years and Amsoil PI is only one of two I've noticed a significant difference with. The other I can't find anymore. It was an STP synthetic, came in a metal bottle. GREAT stuff.

i would like to say that i have this 1996 gt mustang that has 145,234 miles on. The only thing that i had replce on it is the intake manifold because it craked on me.I can say that i messed up the shift forks in the transmission and had it replced with upgrade gear in the transmission and while i was there i replaced the clutch with a heavey duty clutch.like i said every thing else was on me.. the oil has been changed on time and all the small things were replaced as needed. i also got 373gears in the rear end. there were some more things that got replced on the motor that didnt need to be changed that i did...to make a long story short the car is still running strong. i hear that the 4.6 motors if taken care can get 300,000 out of the motor.. thats what i hear.....long tube headers were placed on it to..any ways they can go a long ways if taken care..
