Default How far have you gone with the LOW FUEL light?

For the late model 4.6'ers, how far have you driven after the LOW FUEL light came on?

I've driven probably farther than I should with the needle on the red line next to "E". Sometimes it just slips my mind that my car is low on gas. Sometimes when I drive I don't even look at my gas gauge...

what so bad about driving on an empty tank, the only thing that can happen is your fuel pump will get messed up, and they arent very expensive. unless driving on an empty tank screws up things that i didnt know about.... ?

Well thanks Dan02GT, about a 2 weeks ago my car was running on fumes and I stopped at a local gas station and my car took 14.6 gallons which seemed odd... I was almost sure my car had a 13 gallon tank so I kept the reciept and someone will be getting a call about this ****e, I wonder how many other people have gotten screwed.

Sorry kids, it's bigger than you think. The ford web page says the mustang has a 28.5 gal tank, this is incorrect, that would be a typo. If you still have your window sticker I believe it's 15.7 gallons.

When my gas light goes off and I pump gas, I usually never fit more than 13 point something on my tank... so that means that at you have an extra 2 gallons as reserve once it indicates that your running on empty?

Don't forget a lot of that "over 13 gallons of fuel" is being held in the filler neck.
