Default Mechanical or Electrical Gauges???

Well I'm about to order two gauges for my nitrous set up and I was wondering if I should get mechanical or electrical gauges?? I'm getting autometer's lunar series in nitrous pressure and oil pressure, what do you guys think? What are the advantages and disavantages of the two??

safety is the main reason. you dont want oil flowing into your cabin and other stuff like fuel.

I have never had a problem with a mechanical oil pressure gauge inside the car and have had them in multiple cars for years. The wise thing to do is not to use the plastic tubing (or copper for that matter) and buy the braided stainless line.

The Nitrous Gauge will be mechanical as well, I dont believe AutoMeter offers and electric version.

I've got electrical air/fuel ratio gauge and mechanical boost gauge, but not using nitrous. And they're the Autometer lunar gauges.

I prefer electric gauges. No tubes to route...

I did electriacl boost and temp. I have had no problems with them. Mechanical are more work but its your pref. If you do the mechanical type do it right. You wouldn't want oil or fuel filling your cabin.

I have autometer cobalt series afr(6175) nos(6174) and fuel pres.(6163). They are all electric and they look and work great in my 98 GT.

Over the years, ( many ) have always used mechanical gauges where possible and never seemed to have any problems plus I think they are more accurate IMO. Yes, they are a little more difficult to install but worth it. One thing that is important though is NEVER install a mech. fuel pressure gauge inside the car, it must be mounted outside, use an electronic one inside as the quality of them has gone up over the years. You do get what you pay for so do yourself a favor and spend the extra for quality gauges, good luck.
