Default o/d button on or off

When you race is your o/d button suppose to be on or off, for instance like when you go to the dragstrip?

i don't think it makes a difference, you'll finish the quarter in 3rd anyways. turning o/d off is for when you are going up a mountain.

yea, it doesnt really matter... the car doesnt go any faster... it just basically makes sure you are a gear lower than you would be cruising i think... when i turn it off it just downshifts a gear (in my truck).

Wouldn't that imply that the o/d being off provides more of something?

it just keeps it in 3rd gear in stead of having the tranny constantly shifting between 3rd and 4th.

It has to be off!!!!
the 3rd to OD shift if done at WOT will do damage to your tranny.
I turn mine off as soon as i get in the car and only turn it on if i'm on a highway.

As he said, OD is a very weak gear. Any time you get on it hard you should make sure it is tunred off.

yea but as geetee03 said, for the 1/4 the car shouldn't even get to OD anyway, so for the strip i wouldn't think that it would matter
