thats exactly what i was trying to say earlier. i think if i shift at 6200 it will keep me in the powerband after the shift better. with no forced induction i think it will be safe but i am not sure.

My car shifts at 6200, feels alot better in a drag race. and the sound of the V8 at 6200 is sex to the ears.

dude your car does not make any power to speak of over 6000 unless you have a power adder, 2000gt's car pulls past 6000 cuz he is sc'd. theres no reason to raise the rev limiter youre only asking for trouble on a stock motor.

The factory limiter is set at around 6200 so to be safe I'd leave it there, the stock internals don't like anything more then that and like stated before your not making any more HP above this. Just my 2 cents.

Well yea I just have one thing to say. LEAVE THE REV LIMITER ON! haha I brought my GT to practically 7 grand one time and I almost cried. I was racing this guy and I shifted to second and I looked over as I was walking on him and forgot I had a manual I guess because I stayed on the gas and heard a loud noise like my engine was winding down. I looked at the tack and it was at 6800 I swear to god and it was dropping down fast. I almost cried, I pulled onside the road and killed it and looked under the hood to see if I could see anything lol. Keep the rev limiter right where it is man, I kept mine. It might save you one day like it did me lol

higher rev= stay in power band longer and shift into a higher higher rpm therefore already in the powerband after the shift. unless there is a huge drop in power after 6k....
what do you have done to your car to warrant you needing to change the rev limiter? Let's see a dyno graph to see if you even need to. You will not stay in the power band any longer on a stock or near stock Mustang GT by changing the limiter. You have to do quite a bit to affect peak rwhp and rwft-lbs on a Mustang. It's much easier to get low and midrange power.
I had mine dynoed probably 4 months ago. My car shifts at 6300 from 1st to 2nd. I had never done it before and had to sign a waiver. He said he normally puts the cars at 5800 as a safe point. My car was still making power at that point. The thing with these 4.6's is they like to rev. The higher the better but I wouldnt put much more than 6300 as my max.

Even if your losing power revving higher is setting up your next gear to have a higher RPM and be in the powerband

would you rather shift at 5500 and drop to 3000

or would your want to shift at 6000 and drop to 3500....i would rather have a higher RPM after my shift

(this arent practical numbers just an example)
