What size cams do I need for a 2v 4.6?
I was looking through an upgrade parts manual a little bit ago and didnt realize how cheap cams are. I was looking at ont that was like 179.00 or 200.00. Im getting a lot of upgrades on the 28 and Im thinking of going with a set of cams also. My question is will there any limit on dur. or lift where I need to stop to keep it from hurting my engine or does it matter?

Comp cams has some great cams out - and regrinds aren't widespread like they were a few years ago. A set of descent cams is gonna run right at $500.00 for a pair.

well thats not bad at all. What will they do for me you think? Will it be an incredible increase or just another small mod? What size can I og for with out hurting the engine and what is possible of breaking if I put them in?

Well, if you go with something that isnt overly aggressive, with say .500 lift and not designed to make peak power over 5800 rpm or so - you should be fine to just slap them in and go. The hp increase you get is gonna depend mostly on any other mods you've done. With your mods, a descent cam that you can just install without bothering with anything else would give you a good idle still and probably around 25-30 more hp. If you go much bigger your gonna need a tune (dyno time + tuning is usually around $300+ chip cost) & upgraded valve springs. You can get really reliable power with a bigger cam and have a great sounding idle and in some cases and extra 40+ horsepower (maybe more depending on how well your exhaust and intake flow). My estimations are for the PI cars, of course.
Best thing for you to do is contact the cam manufacurer of choice and tell them your mods and what you want out of your car. They should be able to let you know what other parts (like springs) you will need and if you will need tuning as well.

dont have a lopey idle clip sorry and a dyno tune consists of strapping your car to a wheel dyno and tuning the air/fuel ratio and the ignition timing throughout the entire rpm band - to maximize power and drivability and prevent bad things from happening if your running lean.
