appreciate it. so is a manual valve body suggested for this mod. or just take out the springs?

If I was to pay a shop to do it. how many hours expected and labor, and what parts are needed if I supply them

A shift kit makes your transmission work as a manual/automatic, you can shift from first to second to drive on your own, it also make it shift quicker and harder more firm shifts.

read up on that post about the J-mod it's not something you buy, its' actually something you do to the transmission your self so it's very cost efficiant, it was released by the guy who actually developed the transmission for ford, he just released a better way to be able to shift with this mod. the link is a few posts up.
