Default Help Me!!!

alrite i have a 96 mustang gt and it isnt running like it supposed to so my dad put a new fuel pump on there to see if that was the problem and it wasnt, then he put plugs and wires and that wasnt the problem either. Like after he did them two things it would sound real good and go like 2 minutes running perfect then it would just bog out and stall i was wondering if any of you guys knew anything. Anything to help me out would be appreciated.

did you change the fuel pump or the fuel filter? if its dying during cruising and starts back up after that then it could be your IAC

If the engine is running well when cold and craps out as it heats up, it may be due to one or more bad oxygen sensors. When the engine is cold, the computer bipasses the sensors until the engine reaches running temperature. As soon as those oxygen sensors kick in, bad info may be streaming to the computer. Best bet, have the engine scoped. You could do the run around all day and spend way too much money in the wrong direction just taking shots in the dark. The scope will pin point the problem immediately. You could also have a very dirty MAF sensor wire. You can clean it by using electrical contact cleaner. CRC makes it and is stocked in most auto parts stores. Yes, the IAC located on the front side of the intake plenum could also be bad. What you have done so far is very logical and certainly will benefit your Mustang in the long run. With so many sensors in today's vehicles, scoping is your only sure bet. You may pay just a little more to be scoped at a Ford dealer but he has every bulletin ever issued on your year and model. Good luck!

sounds like the IAC to me....mine went out a few years ago. You can take it off and tap it and clean it with carb cleaner but they are $50 at autozone and take all of 5 mins to swap. Its located on the front of the upper intake plenum...
