Default Gear ratio post should be illegal

These gear ratio post are a sin.. it seems like i read a new post every day over 3.73s or 4.10s.
I'm not complaining, just find it amusing.
Maybe issues such as the following should be covered:

which is better 5.88s or 9.12s?

can i gear my car low enough so i can just use 5th gear all the time ?

I want to gear my car lower but the ring and pinon wont fit in my diff.. what to do?

Does FRPP make a two speed differential?

hehe.. - heart neil

exactly. I usually post on something after i've searched for it or if it's a fresh question.

Pretty much any change of gear ratio reduces mpg, reduces top speed and increases acceleration. The more gear you want depends upon how much dedicated racing you do compared to daily driving.

In theory, you are right, but in reality going from 3.27 to 3.73 can increase top speed. Most Mustangs will be drag limited in 5th gear before running out of RPM. Switching to a higher ratio will allow the engine greater leverage in 5th gear thus allowing you to max out RPM (if you dare).
