Ah, if its under warranty, take it in. Let them deal with the headache on Fords bill. It could be something as simple as a bad bushing in the suspension.......

The bushing thing is what it sounds like to me. Maybe a broken sway bar link

I have the same problem with mine. Occasionally, when I bump the gas at low speed in first gear my stock 02 GT 5 spd lurches up and down quite ungracefully. The worst part is the clattering that sounds like U joints being shredded. I've read where this could be caused by the slack in the output spline on the rear of the tranny. I'm not 100% on what an output spline is but it sounds like a good explanation to me. The same article says that it can be temporarily fixed by using goodheavy lubrication grease. A permenant fix would be replacing some gears in the output of the tranny. Did you try rotating your driveshaft by hand to check the joints? Mine seem good. Of course I only have 10,000 miles on my car...

How many other people are having this same problem. Is this something affecting a lot of people? I think its happening to my new 03 GT. Its been doing that just about since i got the car a couple months ago. Like what MineralGrey said, if i bump the gas while driving slow in first, sometimes it will jerk pretty bad, and it makes a loud clank noise like metal parts are slamming together or something. Ive heard a similar noise sometimes shifting into second, doesnt happen often, but its when i let out the clutch, it jerks a little and it makes that loud clank. Wonder if its the same problem?

Yeah, l have that problem but it's not a loud clank, it's a click. Every time l let go of the clutch, l hear it and then it starts jerking. But l thought all manual transmissions jerked after you shift...lt's been like that since the day l bought it so l was thinking it was normal.

This is my first manual car, so i thought maybe it was something i was doing, or it was normal... but now that i find out a bunch of other people are having similar problems, im starting to wonder if i should get it checked out.

I have a buddy who says hopping and drivetrain clattering is common on late model Mustangs. I doubted him at first but it seems to be more common than I thought. I usually drive real careful in first to avoid the hop and clatter. Anyone else here care to speak up on weather or not they have this problem? Anyone have the solution? My friend and his buddies over at the LS1 board love to bash Fords! He has a Ram Air Trans AM and I'm salavating over three different superchargers so I can blow his doors off!!! Now all I have to do is just get my hands on 5 bills...

Suhweeet...
