why do this code? is the fluid now dirty?

"I" recommend heat cycling them. Drive the car for about 15 minutes, stop and let them cool, drive again for 15 minutes, stop and let them cool. Then drive for about 50-75 miles, change out the fluid and you are good to go.
As the gears and mesh, small bit of metal will shave, just like in a new motor. So once they are cycled, (again, this is just me), but "I" would heat cycle them and change the fluid.

I dont get why you have to change the gear oil after u break them in, i thougt the mechanic is suppose to do it when he installs it.

my mechanic said not to worry about it. I have been beating on mine ever since and no problems. I have heard anywhere from 100 miles to 500 miles. Some people are cautious, others no that there is really no reason to do this. Its your choice...

To make sure there are no metal shavings flowing in the oil after your gears break in.

i want to get 4.10's but then again i know im def gonna be putting a blower on. i just dont know how longs its goin to take me to save up for one. do u think i should just go with the 3.73's now and wait for the blower, or go all out with the 4.10's

IMO if you know you are going to get a blower, do the 3.73. Why waste 500 ish dollars on gears you are going to have to spend another500 ish on again to change. Unless you just have the cash and it does not matter. You could spend that money on something else and then no money is wasted.

I was told by 2 highly reputable shops completely different answers. The shop that did mine said take it easy for 500 miles and another really good shop said brake in time is until you pull out of here and get on it. I did the take it easy method on all my cars just to be safe.
