I dunno Sidewayz...I always heard that the bottom end wouldn't hold that kind of shot for the long run..

You'll be surprised at what it will handle on the stock bottom end if the car is tuned correctly.

I know of a guy that runs a 300 shot on a stock LT1...It ran for a long time before it had a problem, and even then, all it did was blow a head gasket.

It's just fuel and air, so as long as there’s no detonation, then there won't be a problem.

A dry shot is riskier, if she runs alittle lean it could mean bye-bye. The wet shot gives you alittle extra insurance, I'd rather run a chance of a rare gas 'puddle' and blow a hole through my intake than pick up pistons and chunks of block off the ground.

By all means you can use a dry shot, it'll just require more hands-on maitnence to make sure you never lean out and inflate your bicycle tires.

And MD is right, a 150shot is equal to what most people run for PSI on a blower. Now I'm seeing quite a few people run 10 lbs on a bone stock bottom end 4.6 with a good tune...

Heh, 2000GT4.6 has been given false info or he doesn't quite know the limits for a 4.6 engine. You're missing out on another free 50 hp if you'd only run a 100 shot.

While I share your ideas in insurance, I actually saw that happen. Guy with a Cobra, blew the intake off the car, f'd the hood up pretty bad, and who knows what else happened.

Just keep it tuned correctly and you won't have a problem. Colder plugs, retard the timing if you can, and throw some race gas in it. (That's insurance.)

I see what your saying but doesn't a dented hood or a blown intake sound better than a complete short block replacement?

Yeah, it sounds a lot easier, but I think theres more to it than just that. All the books, manuals, how to's...They all say dry for a 75, 100, 150 shot. You get to a point where you have to spray it wet. Then that all makes sense. It's goofy.

wet is alot cheaper too, personally before I fork out the cash for a fogger system ($1500+ alotta times) Im just gonna break off another 1500 and get a supercharger. But... for a $500.00 wet system - now thats tempting...

ORIGINAL: lpstang

i went to the track last week with my 1997 mustang gt.... its major mods are 4.10 gears and 150 shot nitrous..... i ran a 13.5 in street tires and i was sliding horribly through 1st and 2nd gear... its a 5 speed.... i think i am going to get some mickey thompson drag radials..... that should put me in the 12's...... any other imput would be helpfull and appreciated..... i also need somethign to fix my speedometer becasue of the 4.10 gear..... thanx
if your speedometer isn't correct, that means you don't have a chip, which means you don't have a tune.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.? are you spraying a 150 shot without a tune????????? ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A chip usually advances your timing. Thats bad when you're using nitrous. The speedometer has nothing to do with a chip. He needs the little plastic gear since he changed to the 4.10's.
