Bull8t was debating whether to go with 3.73's or 4.10's, till I let him drive my car with 4.10's. Now he's considering 4.30's. Go figure

if want new gears that u can drive around town with then definately get 3.73's. If u go any higher then you will be chirping tires whenever u barely let on the gas.
4.10's or higher are good for the track.

Nobody ever seems to really ask someone what they are going to do with there car. I cannot imagine a N20 or blown car with 4.10s. 1st would be completely useless.
I am very happy with my 3.73s. My car sees alot of highway time, and even with only 3.73s I still try to keep it under 70 or so.
Even my no nothing (about cars) ex roomate could tell the difference between the stock 3.27s and the 3.73s. With my BFG radials I went from a bark in second gear to a rear end swaying burnout.
In other words, IMO if you are planning on a power adder down the road 3.73s are the way to go. If you are planning on leaving your car stock or nearly stock then 4.10s are the way to go.

Wade I sent the pics from my aol account right when I posted that I sent em. Look for an email from mdvaldosta@aol.com. I can resend again if necessary, but I did send them.
Oh, and for automatic 4.6's 4.30's would put you in the same ballgame as 4.10's on 5sp car. I don't really care for auto sports cars, but if I had one thats what I'd run.
For both 5sp (4.10's) and auto (4.30) if you run a power adder you'r gonna run out of gear (4th for MT, 3rd for auto) if you use a power adder. Also with 4.30's your gonna run out of gear on a MT in the 1/4 if your running mid to low 13 second times, unless you bump the rev limiter.

I still dont see how you guys are getting good launches with drag radials and 4.10s, unless either it isnt as big of a diff from 3.73s as everyone makes it out to be, or there is something wrong with the suspension on my car.
In first now, with the drag radials, if I mash it in 1st I can feel it breaking loose, but its not real bad. I would think 4,10s would have you smoking the tires at WOT.

At the track with 4.10's and stock sized notto dr's I launch and 3200 and dump the clutch. Slight tire spin all the way through first. Their really isnt a ton of difference between 4.10's and 3.73's, but its nearly twice the difference over 3.27's. I can tell you that if you have street tires your not gonna get a better 60' time with 4.10's since the power is already overpowering the traction, but with sticky tires its nice.
