If you smelled it at the front wheel, that was just the brakes. The clutch you'll smell a mile away. In the car, around the car, in the garage later that night, and probably the next morning.
If you feel like the clutch pedal is coming up too high, that doesn't necessarily mean the clutch is bad. You can adjust the stock clutch by pulling up on the clutch pedal while the car is running. If it doesn't get any better, (and this is probably the case) then the teeth on the ****ty nylon stock adjuster have broken off.
However, there is an easy fix for this. Go to www.steeda.com and order the billet quadrant, firewall adjuster, and adjustable cable. Not only does this make it super easy to adjust where the clutch engages, but it also makes your shifts consistent. The factory quadrant is plastic, and bends when you're nailing gears. It doesn't respond as fast as the billet quadrant.
The parts are only like $100, but is the best thing I've done to my car yet. That factory adjuster used to **** me off every day.

RE: Self adjusting clutch
If you pull up on the pedal and it clicks but doesn't do anything, you can crawl under the dash, push the plastic lever down and move the pedal closer to the floor. Since it doesn't adjust on it's own when you pull up on it, the teeth are probably stripped.
Whether it's stripped or not, the steeda adjuster is the coolest thing since sliced bread. You can adjust it so you can come out of the hole faster, adjust it up high so you only have to tap the pedal to shift. Making your shifts lightning fast. It's awesome!! You'll love it!!

RE: Self adjusting clutch
Sideways agree totally. Its the greatest thing. I just installed a King Cobra clutch, Steeda quadrant, and adjustable cable. didnt go for the firewall adjuster. But i just put it in today and my plastic was not broken/bent/or stripped. I will say it was a pain in the *** taking the old one out.because of the springs. but i just used dykes and broke the springs. then removed. and i adjusted it so it hits about a 1/4 inch from the floor. Its amazing. Its gonna take time to learn to drive this way though.
