Default Air Silencer Removal

I was reading a past post and i was informed where the air silencer for my 2003 Mustang GT is located, but being a "newer" car enthusiast, i am unaware as to how to remove it. Can anybody help me with this, please. Also, is there any down-sides to doing this, such as voiding the warranty? Thanks.

Here is the tutorial I used to remove mine, really easy mod. As far as warranty, I would just save the piece and put it back in when you go in for work.

np, what CAI are you looking to get, I have not been able to decide in which to get. I have heard some good stuff about the Densecharger(spelling?) but everyone says something different.

I noticed a big difference in throttle response after removing the silencer, I hope you have the same.

I'm looking at the Mac but I don't like the blue rings around the tubes. I wish the rings were black.

I changed my mind about removing the air silencer. I took it off a few minutes ago (replaced the filter while i was there) and it left a big hole in the side of the breather case. Such a big hole would allow the intake to suck in hot air from the engine compartment. My car is a daily driver and I sometimesspend a lot of time sitting in traffic with the engine idling. Louisiana is a hot biznatch in the summer. I'll just have to wait until payday after next to get a CAI.

I'm getting a C&L M.A.M. very soon. I'm getting a couple different prices now, so I will have it ordered by the end of the week. I've heard nothing but good reviews...especially w/the TruFlow pipe

Removing the air silencer will not void the warranty. Replacing it with a CAI will not void the warranty. The only time aftermarket parts will voidthe warranty is if the part replaced is DIRECTLY responsible for the problem. There is a signed act called the Magnuson-moss act. Take a look at it. Good infofor modding.

Streetsmart Design has a cold air intake for the 1996-2003 4.6 L Mustang GT. It is a direct bolt in to the vehicle that requires no modifications. We have packages that allow you to option up to a kit that includes a chip (Superchip currently andDiablo coming soon). Also, if you mention Mustangforums.com when you call they will give you a pretty big discount off retail.

The kit was developed in conjunction with Pro-M Racing (they manufacture mass airflow sensors). Pro-M had stated that a bend in the intake pipe in front of the mass airflow sensor creates a lot of turbulence and makes it hard to calibrate the sensor properly so this was addressed in the Strretsmart Design kit to eliminate the need for an extra cost "cold air intake" calibration.

Man I have to say, The grey composite fiber looks TIZZIGHT!! It would go with my car perfectly! Looks like a good design, especially if the side of the airbox mates up flush with the hole in the fenderwell. I'll be calling in a few weeks, hopefully they will give a discount when I mention mustangforumsbecause the price is kinda... well, higher than other CAI's...

MineralGreyGT02,

Thanks for the compliments on the kit.

We know the price is kinda high. To be honest that's the pain of trying to build a dealer network. Most dealers will sell the kit forless than the"Retail Price" and they want a hefty discount for moving the products. That's why we have to set the"Retail Price"at that level. If you were to check out some of the other aftermarket manufacturers websites that have dealers you will see that the prices we setare in line with their MSRP's. Once our dealers start picking up the product they will drop the "Retail Price" to a "Street Price" and we will steer the customers to our dealers.

Since this is a new product line for us our dealers don't yet stock it which is why we are going to offer apretty heftydiscountto mustangforums members to bring the price to a decent "Street Price".
