my friend has a stock miata and says he beats gt's all the time. is this possible?

Probably 94-98 GT's or he's getting confused with V6's.

LOL....A miata of any 1989-2003 Years wouldn't come close to beating a GT of any of these years....82-2005....Now the new miata with the turbo might be able to compete with the older model GT's (notice i said compete/not beat) but no where near the modern day 99+ GT's. His friend lied to him....Yeah i think he's getting confused with an 1983 4 banger or something.....LOL

i know he's not confused, and he's not the type of person who would lie. His miata isn't the new mazdaspeed turbo mx-5, it's a stock 2001. he said it was a newer gt.

I got a 98 GT and I race Miatas all the time, they try to get in front of me in traffic....I watch as their little ugly bodies turn into specks in my mirror. My car could beat a Miata sittin still with the engine off.

They got 160hp, theyre quit but no stang. Un the twisties however....

I ain't buying it. I've got a '96 GT vert (slowest of the GT's by some accounts) and I've smoked Miata's w/o trying. Sounds like the GT's he's racing know the Miata for what it is and don't bother racing him.

I feel like Rodney Dangerfield: The 94-98 GT's just get no respect! 'from some of yous' guys'[sm=smiley24.gif] Just know that those year ponies are what, maybe 1 - 1 1/2 car lenght slower in the quarter then the stock 99+'s GT's!?!?!?! Being that close it would be all about the driver than! I'm sure no GT would have any problems with a stock Miata.

Actually my friend has a 95 GT with a cam and a few other mods and I still pull 2 car lengths on him. LOL
