stick is more fun and makes more power. a auto tranny cost more to fix than a manual. autos break just as easy as manuals. if you buy a used stang with an auto most likely the tranny needs some work and you dont wanna fix that $$$$.

Just my personal opinion BUT automatics should not be in performance cars or any other kind of "drivers" vehicle like a Jeep.

Maybe if there was something that prevented you from driving with a shifter and clutch it would be different. Like if you were missing a leg or something.

It's all personal preference though. Maybe you drive in alot of traffic and don't feel like clutching all the time it would be a good idea. Or maybe for someone who can't learn to drive a stick or my grandmother or something.

Seriously now...anyone I know who has bought a car to DRIVE and not just get around wished they had a manual transmission. My friend and I used to have the exact same Z28 except mine was 6 speed and his was auto. He hated it after awhile and wished he had bought a stick.

man I would go with a automatic..no missed shifts,no burnt clutches, easier on the drivetrain and with a few mods just as fast as a manual

Doesn't Tremec make the 3650 ? I have friends that have been replacing GM trannys with Tremec for years and say they are the best transmissions made. I'm gussing alot of people on that other forum don't know how to properly drive their cars if they keep braking their trannys. The only person I've met in person that goes to that forum has ruined his 89 gt vert by ricing it out completely. If people on this forum have problems with their trannys, I'd listen to them. the seem to know what they are talking about.

I've got an auto, if you're into bracket racing get the auto, or if you do a lot of traffic jam/city driving get the auto.

For me when I was looking at a mustang I knew I was getting the car for the whole experience of driving. I feel that with a stick you have more control over the car, and it becomes a fully involved process. Besides, its just kind of satisfying to bang though the gears as you're accelerating.

Maybe not in a street car, but an auto sure is fun with a big stroke big block and a ratchet shifter hooked up to a 3-speed bullet-proof transmission. Autos definitely have their place, and they can usually hold up to a lot more power than a manual, but it all depends on what you want out of your car. Having a manual in a sports car is defintely more fun, because you do have ultimate control.

Heres a link to a 44 page thread of 3650 problems, most of which are probably not due to crappy driving.

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=328655
those are absolutely because of crappy driving. god forbid you start in second to avoid the 1-2 shift until the transmission warms up.
