First Mod - Gears!

RE: First Mod - Gears!
I'm only adding a cold air intake and replace the exhaust.. Would it be worth my while to add a new gear system such as this, or perhaps another ratio? How much will it affect my current RPMs during city and highway driving? How much more acceleration can I expect?
Also, what are the differences (as far as sound and HP/Torque) between the Magnaflow and MAC 4.6L SOHC Cat Back exhaust systems? Does one make the engine sound better or louder than the other? What about any HP/Torque differences?

RE: First Mod - Gears!
There is a difference of 200 rpms difference between the 3:55's and 3:73's @ 80 mph. There is a difference of about 2-3 tenths between the two in the quarter. So 3:27's vs 3:73's is about 400 rpms different @ 80mph. and about 4-5 tenths in the quarter.

RE: First Mod - Gears!
I just got my gears (3.73) installed and there is a very noticable difference. at 70 mph in 5th gear im running at 2100-2200 rpm, between 300-400 more than stock gears. One thing to keep in mind though, you need to get a speedcal or chip to calibrate your speedometer, and odometer. (i have not done this yet) dallasmustang.com has a speedcal for $99. I'm raking up about 1.12 miles on my car for every mile i drive, so it adds up fairly quick if you drive much.

Js281GT, are those numbers for the quarter mile time the same when putting 3:73's on an automatic, or am i better off getting 4:10's? will i also gain 4-5 tenths in quarter with my automatic?

04 Mustang, you don't need the impact wrench to fix the problem the mechanic caused you. You only need the pulley tool to remove the dampner and that's free if you rent it from Auto Zone. I did my pulley's myself and I didn't put the silicone in the hole either, like an idiot, had oil all over my engine bay at all times...took 2 secs to fix.
