Default What type of heads?

On my 97, I know that at top end it dies due to breathing problems. I know you can do a 99 GT head swap and eliminate it but, should I do that or racing heads?

The 99+ is all you need. Just port them and while you're at it throw some new bigger stainless steel valves.

To the best of my knowledge there aren't any aftermarket 4.6 heads yet. They are all just ported and modified Ford heads. Any heads from '99+ on will work. Just one thing though, the '00 and '01 heads are Windsor heads which require different valve covers than the Romeo heads. '99 heads are Romeo heads. The Patriot heads look nice, but they are about $1,000 for the pair, for just the heads, and you can get a complete swap kit including a new intake with aluminum water crossover from Parkway Ford http://performance.parkwayfordga.com/Headswap.htm for $1320. The Patriot heads are ported so they will flow better than stock heads, but stock heads will already make a world of difference on your car.

That may be right. I've tried to find info to clear it up for sure, and I found this site. http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/eb40228.htm It's a history of the modular engines since 1991. There are a lot of variations. It looks like '01 and '02 heads are Romeo. Either way, you can use either head. The only difference is the valve covers aren't interchangeable.
