Default Is my motor damaged?

<FONT face=Arial size=2> After I had my 02GT about a week,I checked the oil and it was just a hair above the "low" mark on the dipstick. When I saw this I wondered if it was normal. A few weeks later I added half a quart. I started the motor for a minute and shut it off. I waited five minutes or so and checked the oil. It was around halfway belowbeingin the middlebetween low and full. So, I added the rest of the quart and that put itperfectly between the marks. Today when I changed the oil I checked my owners manual and saw that it holds six quarts so (of course) I added six quarts of Castrol 5w-20 Synthetic Blend. I waited and let the oil run out of the head andsettle into the oil pan for a couple minutes. Started it for a minute. Let the oil settle again(I changed the filter). Checked it, and it was dead in the center of low and full. Some dips**t only added five quarts at the last oil change!</FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>During the time I drove it a quart low, I never lost oil pressureThere shouldbe no harm doneright? RIGHT??! TELL ME I'M RIGHT!!! Ok, I'm calm... But seriously, the car had a Motorcraft filter on it.I got it from a large, reputable, Ford dealerwith 7,000 miles on it. Iwould havefigured the Ford techs would have their heads screwed on straight... After this, I guess they don't...</FONT></P>

It doesn't make any odd noises. Probably worried about nothing... Right? No? Argh...!!! <IMG src=smileys/smiley15.gif border="0"></P><edited><editID>MineralGreyGT02</editID><editDate>37808.9903009259</editDate></edited>

Well in my mind I would be worried too, but if it were me the people who really should be worried are the guys who screwed it up in the first place!

like he said dont worry , you need to go a lot lower than that before you run into trouble. your mototr new , i will burn oil very slightly. even good motors seasoned motors will.

yeah i agree with them too, if its anywhere between those two marks you are fine, especially if its a newer motor that can take a little more beating. its only when the oil is below the low mark or above the full mark should you be worried and thats only if youve been driving with it like that for awhile. but i think youre fine, no worries mate<IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">, lol.
